Nina's Revolution

Hey Guys!

So in History class right now, we are learning about the revolutionaries from colonial America, way back in the 17th century. The colonists didn't like the way they were being treated by Britain, and they wanted some change, this is what led them to start the Great Revolution. If I could start my own revolution to change something in the world, I would want to raise awareness to the cause of world hunger.

Something as simple as just looking down at my dinner plate, that I can't always finish, made me think about how much food goes to waste everyday. Food gets thrown away everywhere and most times we are not aware that just because we are not hungry anymore that doesn't mean that someone else isn't. Grocery stores are a main contributor to wasted food; this is because there are laws that require food to be thrown away if it is close to the expiration date. A lot of the products/produce that supermarkets throw away is not close to being inedible yet, the same goes for regular households where blemished food is thrown away.

Although underdeveloped countries usually have a larger staving population, developed countries such as America still suffer from this problem. Something that could help solve this problem would be: instead of grocery stores throwing away food that is almost "expired," it could be given to a local food bank, where they would find hungry people to eat it before the printed expiring date.

Leave a comment below of what you think about this idea and how you could help make a difference.

See you in the next blog post!
